In 1905 Hand Wildorf established a company three years later to be named Rolex. In 1944 Han's wife died and he created the Hans Wilsdorf foundation where he donated all his Rolex shares to. He made sure that all the company's profits would go to charity. To this day the company is still owned by a private trust and stocks are not traded on any stock exchange. Rolex was the first to come out with the perpetual movement In 1910. Rolex became the first to have a watch receive a chronometer certification. The first oyster case was launched in 1926 being the first watch to be totally waterproof. In 1931 the first oyster perpetual movement "self winding" was launched. This was a huge day for the watch world. Today Rolex holds the same high standards as they did a hundred years ago.
